Mindfulness is paying attention to the present moment,

on purpose and without judgment.

The Benefits of Mindfulness Practice:

Mindfulness Practice is a skill set which can help you manage an overactive mind. Many people can become preoccupied with worries, regrets, and memories, and feel as though the mind is working overtime.

Giving all of your attention to the present moment, i.e. increasing your awareness, allows you to accept the here and now, and evokes a sense of appreciation and calm. Mindfulness training is highly effective for those who struggle with anxiety or depression and can help you shift your perspective and outlook on life.

The practice of mindfulness originated as a spiritual practice in eastern traditions. However, today it is an integral part of behavior therapy and has many benefits for people in all walks of life. Practicing mindfulness does not require a particular stance or posture, rather it is part of everyday experience.

I have had a personal mindfulness practice for many years and continue to run classes in the community. Creating a mindfulness practice requires a commitment to use the six basic principles daily. Focusing on the present moment and returning to the senses can help you wake up to living life right here, right now!

You can learn mindfulness in groups or individually. Visit the Events page to find out about upcoming trainings, or contact me directly to schedule an individual session.
